2008 Season Ends
The Capreol Bowl Men's Slo-Pitch League is over for another year and things could hardly have gone better. Well, maybe the weather … but other than that it was a complete success!
Congratulations to the regular season champions Briscoe's Plumbing (aka, Roto Router). They finished with a record of 17-3 and topped the standings with 34 points.
Kudos to the year-end tournament winners: Briscoe's Plumbing (who went undefeated and won a close final game over the Foul Balls), and Luc's Dukes (who won the consolation finals over Shotcrete Plus). B.J. Marshall won the home run competition in a three-pitch final round, defeating Luc St. Amore and Danny Sumpton all three had tied in the first round with an amazing five homers each.
Thanks are owed to a great many people. First and foremost, league president (and overall good guy) Chris Morris. This league wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his initiative and hard work. Then there's the woman behind the man, Chris's wife, Robyn. She worked just as hard and had to put up with Chris while doing it!
Thanks also to the league's biggest single sponsor Capreol Bowl. The barbecue and beer tent were just one of the many things they did all season to help.
Skater's Edge is also appreciated for their contributions. Several of the great prizes were donated by them.
Capreol Online and Scorecrazy both deserve mention for their fine websites.
There isn't room to thank everyone properly. So rather than even try let me just say “Thanks” to all the volunteers, players, umpires, sponsors, and anyone else who made the 2008 season the best one yet. See you all next year!
