Relatives and friends gathered January 1, 2006 to celebrate Jean Bilsborough's 100th birthday at the Finlandia Centre at Minnow Lake.
Jean Veronica Bilsborough (Plexman) born on January 4, 1906, raised in Sellwood, moved to Capreol in 1917, attended schools in Sellwood, Capreol and St. Joseph's College in Lindsay, Ontario.
In her late teens Jean opened an ice cream parlor and also worked at the Dominion Store in Capreol.
In 1928 Jean married Harry Bilsborough (deceased) at Our Lady of Peace Church in Capreol. Harry and Jean moved to Pembroke, Ont. and later to Noranda, Que and Timmins.
In 1943 they returned to Capreol and bought the Audion theatre (see also this story). they also opened a jewellery store while operating the theatre.
Jean has two children, five grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.
Jean enjoyed working in her community and helped organize the Capreol Cancer Society, The Daughters of Isabella and the Capreol Seniors Club 240.
The community is fortunate to have had such an active person in their midst and wishes Jean good health and longevity.
