Fred Boimistruck was born in Sudbury Ontario, on January 14, 1962. Fred played two years of major junior hockey as a defenseman with the Cornwall Royals. The Royals were enjoying their greatest success in team history. In 1980-81 Fred was established as one of the top rookie defensemen in the QMJHL.

Dale Hawerchuk and Dan Daoust were also on the Royals squad that won the Memorial Cup in 1981. In 1981-82 Fred scored 22 goals and 48 assists in 68 games as the Royals defeated the OMJHL's Kitchener Rangers in the Memorial Cup. Fred was selected 43rd by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1980 entry draft.

Fred Boimistruck, Jim Benning and Gary Nylund were immediately expected to improve a terrible Maple Leafs team.

In his two seasons with the Leafs Fred played 83 games until he was sent to the minors. The pressure placed on these young players by Leafs management was unrealistic and their careers came crashing down.

Fred never did play in the NHL again and by age 25 he was out of competitive hockey forever.

The people of Capreol Ontario, are proud of the accomplishments of their son Fred Boimistruck.

Once again, Toronto Maple Leafs Management destroyed a young player's career. The curse on the Maple Leafs lives on and hockey fans know that the Toronto Maple Leafs will never win the Stanley Cup again.
