Capreolonline - Sports in by-gone days - Doug Mohns and the Capreol Kids

Doug Mohns who was born and raised in Capreol never forgot where he came from. On many occasions Doug would come back to Capreol with other NHL stars like Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull. He had tickets for NHL games usually between Boston and Toronto or Chicago and Toronto. He would take kids from Capreol by bus to the Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens to see him play. Some of the kids he took were Gerry Sorel, Stu and Stan Thomas, Mike Bevilaqua and of course the biggest kid in Capreol Rudy Mazzuca, and others. Doug always looked after these kids with bus rides, hotel rooms and meals. Imagine if you were a kid and you were able to see your local town NHL star play at the Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens. Many adults have fond memories of their trips with Doug.

Doug has never forgotten about his home town and to this day if you ask him for something he will do his best to help you. Besides being an NHL star, Doug is a good man who has helped many people during his great NHL career and in his retirement.
